Pursuit of Feel Good Fashion

IMG_2825

Okay, this is officially my new favorite outfit.  Blue and yellow is such a lovely combination. I have caught myself wearing this ensemble a couple of times now, But I have no shame, its my favorite! If you find an outfit that you feel beautiful in, I don’t see the problem in wearing it over again. If you feel good, you will do good. I firmly believe in that. In this outfit I feel classic because of the shape of the skirt, but the prints and the colors make me feel quirky too.

IMG_2813The back of this top is what makes it! I mean, how awesome is that cut out? Since my back is one of my favorite features, this top makes me feel confident.

This skirt is so great. It was a winter piece at Anthropologie, and I got it for a steal when it went on sale. BUT, it works great for every season honestly. Its all about how you outfit it. This is one of those pieces that I am proud of. I got it for a good price, and I can wear it over and over again. Sometimes I buy new clothes because they’re gorgeous but end up feeling guilty because of the money I spent on it. This is NOT one of those things.

IMG_2800I often get the comment, “Oh, I love your outfit! You wore that just for class? Why are you so dressed up?” Because I love getting dressed up! I make it a point to feel put-together before I leave the house. Though, it is DEFINITELY not the standard for college students, who often times roll out of bed with their sweatpants on and come to class, I feel like I can’t go through my day like that. I want to feel good about what I put on my body. I want to tell the world how I am feeling on the inside by the clothes I wear on the outside.

The clothes that you wear communicate different messages to others in the same way that body language does. I don’t mean this in a shallow way at all. If you put yourself together thoughtfully, people will think that you are put-together, and thoughtful. If you are dressed sloppy, and in pajamas, it might give off the impression that you are lazy and sloppy. These messages will impact your connections with other people, and that is so important.

I also get the comment, “I don’t know how you have the energy to put together an outfit like that together every morning.” For me, it is not an option. It makes so much of a difference to take the time for yourself to feel good. When I feel good and confident about what I am wearing, I am more likely to have a better day. If I dressed in my sweatpants, I would probably feel like I was ready for bed all day. I wouldn’t have the energy to get anything done. Even if I feel like sleeping all day, if I put on a well put-together outfit, I will feel a little more put-together. Ever heard of the phrase, “fake it till you make it?”  Either way, I have to face the day, so I might as well get myself together.

I only take about an hour to get ready in the morning.  (Including hair and make up.) That hour is so vital to how I will feel the rest of my day. I say this all the time; my outfit is my armor, and my make up is my warpaint. I am ready to face the day with the armor that I choose to use.

Look good, feel good, do great.

Pursuit of Trying New Things

I have been hearing so many great things about this new fad of “spiraling” vegetables. There is no denying that I am an carb lover. This is a great way to cut out a few of my carbs and exchange them for veggies instead. Jason and I decided to start “spiraling” by making the ever popular zucchini noodles.
